Melburnians have been marrying at St James' Old Cathedral since the 1840s. Our minister, Matt Williams, was married here himself (somewhat more recently)! The Georgian architectural symmetry, old box-pews and human scale of the building make a beautiful place to marry with a real sense of history. The building is appropriate for weddings with 50-250 guests.

St James' has the particular advantage of two symmetrical aisles, enabling more of your guests to gain a close view of the bridal party as you enter through one and exit down the other. The Flagstaff Gardens across the road make an ideal setting for photographs.

We offer several options with wedding bookings, including assistance arranging bell-ringing (on our historic eight-bell peal), organist and flowers.

All weddings must be conducted according to the Anglican service, and all couples are required to undertake an approved form of marriage preparation.
